In South Korea, a local hair salon stands out because of its unique employee named Tory. She is a Shiba Inu, a breed of dogs that originated from Japan. Shibas are known to be alert, faithful, charming, and good with kids. All of these characteristics are in Tory, which makes her an ideal salon worker.
To start her day at the salon, the 1-year old Tory wears her uniform, a yellow apron. She has her own assigned tasks, like the other employees at the shop. And, she even has her work schedule posted on the board like an actual employee!
When everyone is busy, Tory’s task is to greet the customers. She makes them feel comfortable. She also plays with them to help them feel relaxed while waiting for their turn to have their haircut. Customers, especially the kids, love seeing Tory at the shop.
According to her guardian, who also works at the shop, Tory has no monthly salary. Instead, she gives her delicious treats. She also has the privilege to eat and even sleep while at work. Best of all, Tory also gets her daily dose of walking outside the shop and getting fresh air.
Tory was once jobless, and she used to stay at home whenever her guardian goes to work. Trained to potty outside, Tory suffered from a bladder infection because she held her urination while at home. Since then, her guardian started to bring her to the salon, and Tory couldn’t be any happier with her new job.
Another benefit of Tory’s work is the extra time that she gets to spend with her guardian. They commute to work together and even wear matchy outfits. They make new memories together every day, and indeed, that is the best reward Tory would definitely want.
