Terrified Stray Dog Rescued By Couple Honeymooning In Greece Learns To Love And Trust Again

Terrified Stray Dog Rescued By Couple Honeymooning In Greece Learns To Love And Trust Again

Janet Doring November 2, 2020

A lot of stray dogs live their entire lives as strays. They never get to experience what it’s like to be part of a family, and most have bad experiences interacting with humans. Because stray dogs have no one to care for them, they end up getting emaciated, infested with parasites and have skin conditions that will make them lose their fur.

Fortunately, many people still feel compassion for these dogs and will readily help them have a better life. In Greece, a newlywed named Aliki and Walter chanced upon a stray dog named Nelson. Nelson almost had no fur in his body, and he was also acted frightened when people approached him, which suggested that he didn’t have the best experience interacting with humans.

Aliki and Walter are a couple from Canada who decided to have their wedding at Aliki’s parents’ hometown in Greece. While honeymooning in Greece, Aliki and Walter ended up rescuing Nelson. Aliki and Walter felt pity for Nelson for being so sad, and they both thought that Nelson deserved better.

The couple eventually decided to change their honeymoon plans to help Nelson. Aliki and Walter sought the help of local animal rescue organizations called Green Animal Rescue and Diasozo Animal Rescue to help with Nelson’s rescue, treatment, and recovery. When the vet assessed Nelson, they found that he had parasite infestation, mange, and was weeks away from death.

Aliki and Walter had to leave Greece, but Nelson was never far from their hearts and minds. They continued getting updates about Nelson, and they closely followed Nelson’s recovery. It took months for Nelson to make a full recovery as well as learn to trust humans again. Thanks to the love and compassion shown by the rescuers who took care of Nelson, Nelson fully recovered.

Nelson became healthy enough to go on a special trip to Canada to be with his forever parents, Aliki and Walter. When Aliki and Walter picked Nelson up from the airport, they were amazed by how much Nelson changed. He’s no longer the emaciated and furless dog that they rescued. Nelson also came out of his shell and showed Aliki and Walter his playful and loving nature.

Nelson’s amazing recovery was all thanks to Aliki and Walter and all the rescuers who helped him. If there’s a dog that deserves a loving forever home, you’d definitely agree that it would be Nelson. Here’s a heartwarming video showing Nelson’s rescue, recovery, and transformation.
