Destiny Vasquez was in the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant when she spotted a dog. She could immediately tell that the pup was homeless and needed some help. So, Destiny called her mom and cried for help. At that time, she had no idea that there were actually two stray dogs in the area.
Destiny’s mother, Jessica Marin, has saved lots of stray dogs from South Texas in the past. Upon hearing from her daughter, Jessica drove to the restaurant and saw the two pups living together in the parking lot. She learned from one of the employees that the two have been living there for a while.

To help the dogs, Jessica took some photos and sent them to Leslie Ysuhuaylas Hennings together with the video that her daughter recorded. Leslie helps in raising awareness for animals in need on the internet. She posted about the pups and asked for people’s assistance.
Thankfully, Leslie’s plea worked. Ana Teran, Animal Aid Brigade volunteer in Houston, saw the post and immediately tried to look for ways to get the dogs. She rented a car and drove from her Houston home to South Texas to pick the two pooches up.
Meanwhile, after earning the trust of the two dogs, Jessica got them into her car and brought them to Ana. Ana was so excited to meet them. She said that they were the cutest and desperately wanted some love. The pups were not even fearful or timid. They wore nothing but the biggest smiles.
Ana drove the two dogs back to the shelter in Houston together with nine other strays. Now, Ana is fostering the two pups, who are deeply bonded. It is estimated that these dogs, who are both females, are about one year old. Ana now calls them Patty and Pepper.
Soon, Patty and Pepper will be up for adoption. Although it will be hard for Ana to see them go, she knows that there are many more dogs who need her help. Ana said that she is so excited about Patty and Pepper’s future adventures. Destiny, on the other hand, is thrilled to serve as their lifeline.
