Truffles is a sweet black and white American pit bull terrier mix. She spent most of her life in a shelter and hoped to have a forever home.
At the age of 4, Truffles is already in the Adoption Center in New York City and Brookhaven Animal Shelter. In 2017, she was at last adopted after three years of waiting.
According to Valerie Sanks, a volunteer at the Brookhaven shelter, Truffles had a home with children that she loved so much. Yet two years later, the dog was back at the shelter for an unknown reason.
When Truffles came back, the pup greeted Sanks with lots of love and kisses. Yet while the reunion was full of happiness, an old dog that has been coming back and forth to a shelter is not good.
Sanks and the shelter want everyone to know about Truffles’ current situation and, at the same time, celebrate her 10th birthday.
Truffles birthday party is themed as a princess. Sanks booked a hotel room away from the shelter so that the dog could have a sleepover birthday party. Truffles don’t have any interest in toys and is on a diet that is why she asked for birthday cards from everyone instead.
Truffles went viral when Sanks asked Sophie Galmand, a dog photographer, to take her pictures and post them on Facebook and Instagram. Everyone liked the picture of Truffles wearing legendary flower crowns.
According to Sanks, Truffles received cards full of love and wonderful stories about shelter dogs, cats, and rescued animals. Some cards included photos, others included gifts, toys, treats, and even money and gift cards. The senior dog received a total of 504 cards.
Sanks thanked everyone who contributed to making Truffles’ birthday memorable and special. She said that aside from Truffles, they still have many dogs that need to find their forever home.
