If you frequently travel internationally or domestically by air, then you know that the airport is a stressful environment that will ultimately wear you out. Los Angeles International Airport is considered as one of the busiest airports in the world. Catering to millions of passengers every year, LAX is undoubtedly a crowded airport, causing a lot of stress to travelers and airport staff.
Many airports have tried so many different approaches to combat the stress of air travel. However, LAX found a straightforward yet effective way to help travelers feel more at ease when they go through LAX. LAX authorities decided to use therapy dogs throughout the airport for everyone to pet.
LAX called this program the PUP or Pets Unstressing Passengers. When the dogs were first introduced to the travelers and staff at the airport, it instantly became a success. Travelers immediately felt at ease. Some of the passengers hurrying to their terminals even stopped for a couple of minutes to pat the dogs on the head.
The adorable dogs were definitely turning frowns upside down, and the passengers left with a happier mood despite the stress of being in a crowded airport. Even LAX staff were delighted to see the dogs, and no matter how busy they were, they always found time to pet the dogs to relieve the stress they’re feeling.
Even irate and stressed-out passengers who had their flight delayed felt a little better when they saw the dogs. It’s incredible how our furry friends can help brighten our day with just a little wet nose kiss and a furry cuddle. LAX authorities have definitely found a simple yet very effective way to deal with travel stress.
In LAX, the dogs you’ll see won’t just be sniffer dogs that can be a little intimidating, but there will also be dogs that will help you get rid of the stress you feel when traveling. The PUP program was such a huge success that some airports are already copying it. Here’s a truly adorable video showing PUP dogs putting a smile on even the most irate traveler.
