Lurchers are mixed dog breeds, usually from sighthounds and collies or terriers. They have long, athletic builds and are really fast runners. The fastest lurchers record up to 60 k/ph, making them a really agile breed.
One particular lurcher found a way to slow down and match with his owner’s pace. Billy, the nine-year-old pooch of Russell Jones, was seen limping beside him in the viral video posted online.
Russell recently twisted his ankle and needed to walk around in crutches while his foot was healing in a cast. In the video posted by Russell’s wife, Michelle, Russel and Billy can be seen walking side by side, both of them limping.
Billy was fine before getting caught limping in the video. The couple could not remember when and where the dog got the injury. Worried that his best friend might be suffering, Russell brought Billy to the vet, wanting to get to the bottom of Billy’s limp.
After multiple X-Rays and about $400 worth of vet fees, the results turned out negative. The vets could not pinpoint the source of Billy’s condition, baffling Russell and Michelle even more.
It was only when they returned home and Michelle let Billy play in the yard that they realize what happened to the dog. The canine started running around at full speed; his limp suddenly disappeared.
Surprised, Russell had an idea to test if the dog really has an injury; he took Billy out for a walk in his dad’s mobility scooter. His suspicion was correct; the dog limped only when Russell was walking in his crutches alongside him!
They soon found out the Billy was limping too out of sympathy. What kind of dog will he be after all if he was completely fine while his owner was walking around injured?
Despite shelling-out a hefty amount for unnecessary procedures, Russell found it quite amusing that his dog thought it’s in their best interest that they hobble along during their walks. Such an adorable con-artist!
