A dog named Ace was surrendered to a shelter in Sonoma, California. His documents indicated that he was nineteen years old. He did not stay long in that shelter because that’s when the fire started in the area.
The volunteers needed to evacuate all the animals. Ace ended up a hundred and fifty miles away in Sacramento SPCA. Bonnie, a potential foster parent wanted to foster Ace mainly because of his age. She did not want him to live the rest of his life in a shelter.
When Bonnie first brought Ace home, Ace was not interested in Bonnie at all. He was not even interested in his siblings. All he wanted to do was play with dog toys.
For the first few weeks, he was quite reserved. Then he started to get more comfortable in his foster home. He started playing with his foster siblings then.
When Ace started to open up, Bonnie discovered that Ace loves long walks. He would always lead the pack during their walks.
A YouTube channel named The Dodo released a video about Ace looking for a home. They had sixty-seven emails applying for his adoption. Unfortunately, it was also the time when he had twelve dental extractions.
He won’t be released to an adopter until his mouth completely heals. It took about a month for Ace to recover.
Since he needed to rest his mouth, he was unable to play with his toys. The surgery turned out to be a blessing because that’s when he started giving Bonnie some attention.
He started showing how excited he was when Bonnie’s there. Because of this, Bonnie realized that Ace was already part of the family, and she could not bear to see him go. Bonnie then decided to adopt Ace officially.
This was Bonnie’s first foster fail. She knew that Ace has fallen in love with her family. His adoption was worth it. Ace has shown that age has nothing to do with how you live your life.
Ace may be nineteen years old, but he acts like a two-year-old toddler. He is full of life and energy. Bonnie is grateful that she gets to see more of that playfulness.
